Tuscan Maremma: suggested fieldtrips

The Tuscan Maremma has a lot of interesting things to offer. You need time to get to know it, You need time to get to know it, so we suggest you visit it again and again.

Many of the links I am proposing will bring you to the web page of an association called Maremmans, which I am part of.

 

There are different destinations depending on what interests you and how far you are willing to travel. The approximate time it takes to reach the following destinations from Casetta Tartuchino is signalled as follows: (*) within 30 mins; (**) within 60 mins; (***) within 90 mins; (^) over 90 mins.

 

Here are my recommended itineraries:

 

(*) Bathe in the thermal hot springs and visit the town of Saturnia;

 

(*) Visit the Necropolis of Puntone, bathe in hot thermal waterfalls of Gorello and visit the town of Montemerano;

 

(*) Visit the town of Rocchette di Fazio, take a walk in the olive grove of the Olivone di Fibbianello, visit the Castellum Aquarum and bathe in the thermal hot springs of Saturnia;

 

(*) Trip to the WWF reserve and town in Roccalbegna;

 

(*) Walk in the footpaths and surrounding fields of Tartuchino;

 

(**) Visit the town of Pitigliano and walk through the Vie Cave Etrusche;

 

(**) Hike to the Eremo di Poggio Conte (between the towns of Manciano and Farnese) and bathe in the thermal hot springs of   Saturnia;

 

(**) Trip to Monte Labbro and visit the Centro Studi Davide Lazzaretti di Arcidosso;

(**) Visit the town of Sovana, its gorgeous Etruscan necropolis, and the town of Sorano;

 

(**) Visit the town of Santafiora and the nearby alpaca farm (for high quality knitwear; book by calling 0564977092).

(***) Visit the natural park of Uccellina, take a swim or walk around the beach of Marina d’Alberese and visit the town of Orbetello;

 

(***) Take a refreshing hike in the peak of Mount Amiata and  Adventures and visit the Garden of Daniel Spoerri;

 

(***) Visit Diaccia Botrona and the town of Castiglion della Pescaia;

 

(**) Visit the Garden of Tarocchi and the town of Capalbio;

(**) To immerse yourself in oriental spirituality, book a visit to Merigard and the Museum of Oriental History and Culture in Arcidosso ;

 

(***) Visit the towns and forts of Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole

 

(^) The islands of the Tuscan archipelago;

 

(^) Visit the town of Massa Marittima and the Garden of Sounds.;

 

(^) Colline metallifere and Mineral Parc of Gavorrano, in Follonica
